What I Do

My specialty is helping parents and caregivers communicate with the school system in a proactive and productive way, so that you are all working collaboratively for the benefit of your child.

I want to support your child’s continued growth. This may mean having a child qualify for special education services, or developing or tightening goals and objectives on an existing IEP. Oftentimes this involves helping the school team be more forward-thinking. We’ll consider both short and long-term objectives and keep everyone on track so your child progresses to meet their potential.

I can help you identify the salient points of your child’s social, emotional and behavioral experiences and explain them in a way that gets you and the school system working together – so your child is receiving a free and appropriate public education. This may be in the public school system, or if necessary, out-placed to a school that is equipped to meet your child’s special needs.

Most of the parents that I have worked with have found that after working with me they don’t need to hire an attorney. All that was needed was a reframing of the situation to improve understanding and collaboration. If involving an attorney does become necessary, the documentation and groundwork that we do together becomes instrumental to achieving a successful outcome.
